Pop Up Restaurant – London – Ridley’s
September 20, 2011 § 2 Comments
Location: Ridley Road Market, Dalston, London
Date: Closing – September 24th 2011 (hurry on down)
We stumbled upon this extraordinary London pop-up restaurant that is doubling up as a ‘temporary art intervention’ where dining is an experience comparable to theatre-going.
At Ridley’s, food is served on a mechanical pulley table that delivers meals from the ground floor kitchen to guests on the first level. They sit at a communal table with a gap in the middle and can peer down into the kitchen as the meal is prepared.
The two-storey outdoor eatery has been constructed where there was a void in the road. Designers, artists and architects from The Decorators and Atelier Chan Chancollaborated on the project.
A different guest chef is creating daily menus from market produce only. At lunchtime, guests are invited to bring their own produce in exchange for a meal. Dinner is £15 and guests leave with a £10 food shopping voucher for use at the market.
