Here is a first look at the new Mulberry campaign for SS12. Can’t wait to see how this will be traslated into their windows and stores across the country. The image was taken by one of our all-time favourite photographers Tim Walker!

CENTURIES OF STYLE: BROOKS BROTHERS X HARRIS TWEED

October 28, 2011 § Leave a comment

Store: Brooks Brothers

Location: Regent Street, London

Last Thursday1 Brooks Brothers opened the doors of their Regent Street store to showcase the best in Scottish textiles and raise money for male cancer Charity Orchid. Marking Harris Tweed’s centenary year, Brooks Brothers showed off a Harris Tweed-upholstered 1919 Model T Ford, especially created by Ramsay Coachtrimming for the ‘champagne of fabrics‘.

Founder Henry Sands Brooks had a very clear guiding principle for Brooks Brothers, which was “to make and deal only in merchandise of the finest body, to sell it at a fair profit, and to deal with people who seek and appreciate such merchandise.” – a standard echoed by the Scottish textiles industry.

Famed for a number of firsts, Brooks Brothers has introduced many pieces such as ready-to-wear clothing and the iconic Polo Button-Down Shirt to America, which are now a staple in the fashion market.  In addition to the ‘ready-to-wear’ suit, Brooks Brothers is credited with the introduction of the wash-and-wear Shirts (first made in the 1950s using a blend of Dacron, polyester, and cotton called “Brooksweave“), and the much loved non-iron Cotton Dress Shirts, made from 100% cotton, thanks to its innovative development of technology. The button-down dress shirt collar was developed by founder Henry Sands Brooks’ grandson John E. after he saw the non-flapping collars on English polo players at a polo match in England. We think these boys look rather dapper, don’t you?

Trend – Viva LA Food Truck – Los Angeles USA

October 11, 2011 § Leave a comment

Los Angeles, a city where many of the world’s food trends begin.

With the US economy in crisis LA’s “food truck” scene is growing. People who have lost jobs are finding new careers by serving street food from trucks with relatively small start up costs.

These new businesses work well in LA because generations of immigration have created a diverse food culture and it’s so close to one of the biggest farming regions in the United States.

Let’s take a look at some of the trucks that are taking LA by storm.

Trend – Speakeasy Bars – London

October 11, 2011 § Leave a comment

Your expanding knowledge of the ever growing number of London’s underground, speakeasy-style cocktail bars is making you more popular than ever.  Which is saying something, because everyone loves you anyway.

Being one of the few who knows exactly which of London’s distressed, unmarked doors can provide access to one of several secret, candlelit cocktail dens makes you….desirable.  But even you can take it up another notch: it’s time to visit the newest and for now, the most secret of London’s secret speakeasies.

Head to The Breakfast Club on Artillery Lane, just off Bishopsgate, where you’ll see a fairly normal looking SMEG fridge. Take your date by the hand, open the fridge door and walk through.

Inside you’ll find a moodily-lit cocktail bar that has exposed brickwork, an air of exclusivity, some great music and a wide selection of cocktails (from the Rosie and Gin to the Linchberg-Leith Lemonade).

Tip: The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town is open from 4pm-12:30am, and is currently dishing out £5 cocktails from 5pm – 8pm each day.

All you need is a secret ‘saying’, a password if you will. Today the Mayor is a hidden gem, but word is already getting out.  Ensure your spot at the bar by emailing you name, contact details and when you’d like to go to henri@themayorofscaredycattown.com

One of our brands causing a stir this Autumn is COMUNE. The line is has some very Autumnal influences, neutral and earthy tones with a soft and muted color palette.

Started by Southern California native Frank Delgadillo, Comune is a fresh, young label that aims to push boundaries with their clothing range, drawing inspiration from skateboarding, fashion, art and music. Teamed with footwear from high-tops to Cowboy boots, these denim styles look so current. Comune is a label that feels a little military, a bit workwear and even slightly preppy – all things we love.

With an array of styles from; slim fit to chinos and finishes from raw to waxed denim styles… there is a pair for you in there somewhere.

We are running a 40% Sale for a limited period only on our Comune denim line. So hurry to get your Autumn wardrobe updated.
