Curated jointly by the organisers of Meltdown, The Secret Garden Party and the MAMA group, Wilderness seems closely modelled on Festival Nation’s more established Latitude Festival. Acts such as Gogol Bordello, Toots & The Maytals, Laura Marling, Antony and The Johnsons(playing with an orchestra), Hayseed Dixie and The Guillemots will play. Wilderness plays host to pioneering performances, Fireside Banquets And Theatrical Spectaculars for 800 festival guests.
This is one of our favourite events that celebrates the end of Summer. If any of you POP STORE fans end up in the Wilderness this weekend, get snap happy and send us in your pics!

Along with Secret Garden Party, Field Day is fast becoming one of our favourite festivals. The line up this year is spectacular, with artists such as Jamie Woon, Jamie XX, Warpaint, Wild Beasts & many more. With wholesome activities such as scone throwing, apron string shuffle races and the human wheelbarrow, who could resist! In a culture awash with so many watered-down musical events, this one is truly hardcore in the best possible way.

Our friend Megan Henwood has been touring the festival circuit all Summer long. The talented muzo has been gracing the stages of Oxfordshire for years, and we’ve watched her grow. Henwood, the winner of BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award two years ago at the tender age of 20, has a stupidly modest character and we genuinely believe she has no idea just how gifted she really is.
She possesses vocals reminiscent to Carol King and Sandy Denny with lyrics that articulate words of a wise old owl. Her writing focuses on broader subject matter than your average female ‘try-hard’. This girl is one to watch, she will be winning awards for many years to come, so you’ll become quite familiar with this girl.
See her perform at the Cambridge Folk Festival on The Den Emerging Talent Stage, this Saturday 30th July 2011 (tomorrow).
If any of you Pop Store readers attend the fest, please let us know how it went. Muchos Thankos! x
